The Association of Psychosexual Nursing was formed in 1998 by a group of nurses and practitioners who had been meeting informally for 10 years and who had trained in Balint Seminars.  The focus of attention is on the psychosexual needs of the patient/client in health and illness. The Association fosters and promotes psychosexual care as an essential element of the holistic well-being of all patients/clients. The Association welcomes health care professionals from all areas of nursing.

The Balint style seminars offer an experiential group training and provide opportunity for nurses and healthcare professionals to meet, consider and study the psychosexual issues that arise in their everyday work. The training involves the study of feelings in the practitioner/patient relationship in relation to psychosexual issues.

Full membership is open to those who are attending seminars, or have been in seminar in the past.  Subscribing membership is available to those who have an interest in the objectives of the Association.  Study days are provided at reduced cost to members of the Association although non-members are also welcome to attend.
