The Association was formed in 1998 and is a network of nurses and other health care professionals interested in the Balint style training. The focus is on the psychosexual needs of patient/client in health or illness.

"The objects of the Association are for the relief of sickness and for the preservation and protection of public health by promoting and providing training for nurses and other health care professionals in psychosexual nursing, with particular reference to training methods as promoted by the Balint Society, with a view to maintaining and raising the standards of psychosexual nursing".

To further these objectives, the Association may

organise & supervise, the training of seminar leaders

organise & supervise Balint style nurse training seminars

raise awareness of psychosexual nursing by organising study days,workshops & speakers for conferences
