Psychosexual Awareness for Registered Health Care Practitioners

30 Credits Level 3 (validated by Greenwich University)

For Greenwich University- follow link and go to the postgraduate courses -Health and Social Care

This module in Psychosexual Care for registered health care practitioners is part of the Association's awareness of its role in the continuing development of education and skills training which recognises the value of reflective practice, and the study of clinical work within all professional groups. The aim of this module is to promote confidence in working with clients who express anxieties related to sexual health through participation in Balint experiential seminars.

All health care professionals  need to recognise and respond to the fact that clients are sexual beings both  in health and illness. It is often tempting for the practitioner to retreat from psychosexual anxieties; this is sensitive work requiring responses tailored to the individual. Continuing training and support is necessary to enable health care professionals to develop the confidence required to respond appropriately.
