Reading Seminars

Reading seminars provide an opportunity to discuss a set text and to consider how it relates to participants' work. Study guidelines are available for each seminar.
The purpose is to review the points made
by the author of the chosen text and to link these with examples from clinical
practice. This has some similarities with Balint seminars, but starts with
propositions which then lead on to examples from practice. By contrast, in
Balint seminars, participants study examples of clinical work to increase
awareness which is often supported with clinical insights. In a reading seminar
an author's ideas or theories are examined and evaluated through the exploration
of examples from practice. These discussions are always illuminating.
Full and subscribing members are welcome to attend. The cost of each reading seminar is £5 and this includes a copy of the set text for discussion.
If you wish to attend the seminar please email or write to us at the Association. To book your place you will need to send in £5 to The Association of Psychosexual Nursing PO Box 2762, London W1A 5HG. Please enclose a self addressed envelope. You will then be sent the discussion guidelines and a copy of the set text.
